Going Green for Father's Day: Guest Blogger Wendy Smolen
I just played 9 holes…without ever leaving my desk. Workman Publishing’s The Miniature Book of Miniature Golf is a 6-inch square book that holds a surprisingly challenging 9-hole mini golf course between its sturdy cardboard covers. The putter and two balls are packed in a resealable case so you won’t loose them (unless “someone else” doesn’t put them away). Each of the spreads has a themed hole amid a fuzzy field of green, a brief history of the type of hole, and tips on teeing off. There are doglegs, water hazards, tricky lies, and bank shots. Hole #6 is a par 7 hedge maze modeled after Chauncey Billington’s course; #8 is a par 2 replica of the Geldrop windmill. With seven more equally iconic holes, this book is a stroke of genius for a golfer dad. And a whole lot more fun than another Father’s Day tie. -- Wendy Smolen
