Green toys are all the rage these days, from recycled milk jugs, to making toys out of reclaimed woods and plastic.
Some of the green toy companies have some new products this year, starting with Green Toys. All new for this year, the recycling truck, the dump truck, tool kit, ecosaucer, and jump rope. I love the bright colors in contrast with the pastels of the tea set and the kitchen set.
Plan toys, who make toys out of reclaimed rubberwood from rubber trees that are no longer producing, also have some newer items such as the tree house, the airport, the motor home, and the modern table and chairs.
Sprig Toys has also released some new toys. Something that is really exciting about these new trucks is that they price point is very affordable. The Eco-trucks are again, in Sprig fashion, kid-powered, battery-free, and
made from reclaimed wood and plastic (Sprig wood!).
Also in the realm of green toys- how about some furniture that is made out of recycled toys? An artist,
Greg Lynn, out of Venice, CA is making some great furniture/art out of old plastic ride-on toys. He is even looking for your old toys and will buy them from you.
Of course I will report on all the new green toys that I will be seeing
at Toy Fair in New York in February. There are lots of exciting green
toys on the horizon!
