Finding Lost Lovies - Flash Back Friday

Linus Almost every child I know has something akin to Linus's blanket.  Call it what you will, a lovie, a blankie, a stuffed animal, a binky...whatever it is, it is necessary to life itself.  In our house, it is a silkie.  My mother started making them for my daughter before she was born- a simple 10 in. by 10 in. flannel blankie with satin on the other side and blanket binding around the edges.  She absolutely cannot sleep without them, yes them- from 3 to 5 of them in her bed, jammed up next to her face.  I spent a few hours last weekend on my sewing machine making a few more for her because we tend to lose them every now and then (not to mention that one needs to live in the car, one at daycare, and so on).  When the silkies cannot be found- you can imagine the turmoil in her little world, and in ours as parents.
Plush Memories Lost Toys Search Service was created out of this turmoil that comes with a lost lovie, or silkie, or Mr. Bunny Pants - whatever you call that special item your child needs to sleep at night.  This is a forum that helps people find lost loves.  Check it out and you will see that people are searching for duplicates of that special item their child has attached to, stuffed bears from 1963, and other such hard to find toys that mean so much.  I especially liked the "Found" page and reading how happy parents and children where when reunited with that special toy.

Do you remember your special toy? Mine was "dog" and I still have him although my kids say he looks more like a mouse.  One of my college friends had a stuffed bunny who she still sleeps with today, even though she has two kids of her own ("bunbun" also made an appearance at her wedding, dressed in a tux by her husband- as much as I made fun of her, it was extremely touching that he made that extra effort on their big day).  Share with us in the comments- what was your special comfort item? Do you still have it today?

Have a great weekend and sleep a little lighter knowing that Plush Memories is out there if you ever need them!
