Bakugan 101
It's Action Tuesday here on Toy Whimsy, so I figured the best way to kick things off is to talk about one of the most fun, action-packed toys out there right now: Bakugan! (The new Bakugan DVD, Bakugan, Vol. 2: Game On is being released today as well.) For those of you who don't know all the rules of the game (or don't even know what Bakugan is), Bakugan is a board game (based on a popular Anime series) that uses magnetic, spring-loaded figures (like the one shown here) that pop open depending on how and where they are rolled. The object of the game is to capture three of your opponent's cards or to beat your opponent's Bakugan.
Bakugan is incredibly popular among boys and has a huge following (think Pokemon.) The good news for parents (especially during this economy) is that many the toys are under $30 (like the Bakugan Battle Pack) and some are even $14.99. Bakugan Toys are the hot item this year besides the Nintendo Wii.
